Lindsay’s career has focused on developing her research science skills alongside her project management skills.  She has worked on the foraging ecology and population dynamics of NW Atlantic and NE Pacific pinnipeds and the sound production of some of their preferred prey; gadoid fish.  She delivered the field and lab data for the Scottish Government commissioned (2010) research into the diet of harbour seals and grey seals in Scottish waters and presented the harbour seal research as her PhD thesis in 2014.  Stepping outside of science to increase the breadth of her business skills Lindsay has helped deliver reducing bureaucracy projects at the Home Office as well as grow the business of a small micro-brewery based in St. Andrews.

Lindsay is working primarily on our PCOD efforts. In particular working on developing a decision framework that can be used to prioritize the development of PCoD models for different marine mammal populations exposed to the same source of disturbance. This framework will also be suitable for providing advice on the most appropriate form of PCoD model for these populations, based on likely data availability and model sensitivity!

Project management: experience designing and delivering small and large; research, development, change and LEAN programmes in academia and business.

Foraging ecology: PhD involved seal scat diet analyses after extensive field work around Scotland and detailed work in the laboratory.  Conterminous captive feeding studies were also conducted with harbour seals. Worked with Dom Tollit (North America Team) on new dietary assessment tools including fatty acid signature and DNA dietary profiling.

With 10 years marine science research and 3 years business experience, Lindsay is confident running projects in the field, in the lab or from the office.
