India is a Project Scientist at SMRU Consulting, Europe. She joined the team in December 2023 after finishing her MSc in Marine Mammal Science at the University of St Andrews and working as a research assistant in the Scottish Oceans Institute. India completed her BSc in Environmental and Marine Sciences at Duke University before moving to Scotland. Throughout both of her degrees, India’s academic research focused on marine soundscapes and passive acoustics. During her undergraduate degree, India examined the ability of bottlenose dolphins to acoustically eavesdrop on each other to aid in foraging efforts. Her MSc dissertation at St Andrews focused on assessing the accuracy of acoustic biodiversity indices to characterize marine soundscapes. India has ample fieldwork experience which she gained previously while working with the Sarasota Dolphin Research Project and other research groups. While India has gained experience mainly working in marine soundscapes, her other research interests include marine mammal behaviour, predator prey relationships, and marine mammal cognition and communication.
