Senior Scientist

Email: tk@smruconsulting.com

Tristan recently joined SMRU Consulting North America as a Senior Scientist to support the research and development of the Coastal Acoustic Buoy (CAB) systems and other ongoing projects. Tristan's previous seven years in academic research combine expertise in bioacoustics, artificial intelligence, and marine mammal research with a focus on automatically detecting and classifying sound sources. In 2025, he completed his doctoral thesis at the University of St. Andrews on developing open-source acoustic classifiers for automatically identifying Atlantic dolphin species in passive acoustic recordings.
